On March 29th, 2011, We attended launch party for GYBO (Get Your Business Online) with great expectations, and we were not disappointed!
Getting an online presence has become critical for business; web sites have become THE WAY customer find and get to know businesses. Sadly, a high percentage of small and medium businesses in Canada are still not online. This might be for several reasons, like thinking is too complicated or too expensive, or simply not having the time. However, as time passes, it becomes more and more clear that businesses that are not online are virtually invisible. And here is where GYBO (Get Your Business Online) comes in: it allows businesses to create a web site completely free for the first year, including free domain (.ca), free hosting and access to all the tools you need to get going. GYBO is an initiative from Google, in partnership with other companies like Rogers, Royal Bank among others, and it aims to get every business in Canada online. As a company in the Web Development space, and as consumers of the internet, this is really exciting! The enrichment of the online eco-system will benefit us all, but in particular, it will be of great value to those companies that up to know have not been able to advertise their services and products online. We are also excited to see the commitment from these industry leaders; programs like this really make a difference and represent a great solid foundation for the future.
